Manifest Positive Values

Manifest Positive Values

Peace and warm wishes to you, my dear friends.

The year 2011 has gone by so fast and I certainly miss my mum after a year of her passing on. Now we are into the second quarter of 2012.

I would like to welcome you to my humble spiritual ‘home’ i.e. www.catholics.com.my/mpv

My noble intention here is to journey together with you, your family and friends....and make our life a more meaningful and peace-filled one. I have benefited tremendously in the last 20 years with the practice of positive thinking, correct usage of words, mental relaxation & goal setting through some simple techniques as well as adhere to the Spiritual Laws. I too have had a fair share of trials & tribulations in my life. With the grace of God, I have overcome most of these and have become a more focused & balanced person.

Once in a while when I am in contact with a negative person or in a negative situation, I seem to struggle a little. I overcome this quickly by focusing on the positive, by observing the Spiritual Laws and by being in the presence of God. I have great people around me who also assist me in this.

I would like to now share the secret towards my spiritual enhancement with each one of you. Please use it for your personal growth as well as share it with everyone you meet. You will begin to feel like a new person. Believe me, it is not that easy but certainly achievable. As we try to climb the Ladder of Spirituality taking 2 steps up, we can be brought down by 1, 2 or more steps at times. This is because we are constantly surrounded by negative people or situations. We should not give up but continue to transform our life as children of God.

You can start by using positive words or an action that can touch someone positively on a daily basis and you would be amazed at how fast you would develop spiritually. When I say develop spiritually, I also mean our physical, mental/emotional & spiritual health as a whole. Every night before we go to bed, we can do an assessment of how many positive things we had done for the day and was there negative things that out numbers it.
Let us together walk that extra mile to make this world a part of the beautiful and peaceful Universal home.

Make this website your favorite site.
May the Divine Light be with you always.
Your Universal friend,

“Spiritualize  our mind, Synergize our Universe” by Margaret Pius Vendargon

Vision & Mission

My vision is to lend a hand to assist in building a beautiful and peaceful Universal home right here and right now. I too am getting so much support for myself through family and friends to works towards being spiritual.

My mission is to create awareness amongst each one of us to make this world a beautiful part of the Universe; for us to love, respect & care for one another as well as our environment; to attain peace, enjoy great health & have the benefit of good people in our lives.

“Create Awareness → by love, respect & care → peace manifests”

Our Mind

Our mind is a garden, we can grow flowers or we can allow weeds to grow.
We can fertilize flowering plants or weeds. The choice is ours.

➢    Our Mind is a combination of thoughts, emotions, images, feelings, etc.
➢    We are made up of energy or electro-magnetic waves or vibrations, therefore our thoughts are   ‘energy powered’.
➢    Every time we think of something, the message is sent out via electro-magnetic waves to its ‘destination’.
➢    These messages can be positive or negative based on what we are thinking about.
➢    Every thought of ours is very powerful, that is why we should make an effort to think positive and good thoughts and this will lead to good intentions.
➢    Good intentions will then lead to good actions and reactions.
➢    How and what we think of daily can build us stronger spiritually or it can be a source for us to be vindictive, jealous, angry, and spiteful human beings.

Therefore we must be very aware, attentive or be conscious of what & how we think all the time.
Our thoughts have three basic qualities. It is magnetic, telepathic and influential i.e. it can influence our physiology.

•    When we think of something or someone, a signal is being sent out into the Universe. This signal will then pick up anything that matches our thought and bring it back to us. If you have been thinking that someone might break into your home, this thought will send out signals looking for burglars and attract them to your home. This is the power of our thoughts; it will attract anything from the Universe. Our thoughts are like magnets, it will attract whatever we think.

Our thoughts also have the ability to communicate with other minds because of its telepathic quality. When we think of someone, we are sure to hear from that person, no matter how far away they are. All of us would have experienced this. This is not coincidental!

•    The third quality is that our thoughts influence our physiology. When we think of our favorite food, we would get hungry. When we have images of tasting some lemon juice, we tend to salivate. This tells us that our thoughts most definitely influence our physiology. Therefore, we should be aware of every thought of ours, ensuring that they are always good and healthy. We must stay away from toxic thoughts otherwise our words, actions and reactions would contain toxicity or contamination.

Once we come to realize how powerful our thoughts are, we can and should consciously make an effort to think positive & maintain good thoughts in order to attract positive results in our lives. And once we become positive, we can influence others around us and eventually this world will enjoy a multitude of good and peace loving people.

Positive Thinking

HAVING GOOD & POSITIVE THOUGHTS CAN NEVER
PRODUCE BAD & NEGATIVE RESULTS.
(When we plant an apple tree, will it bear oranges?)

It means that we should continuously see the brighter side of situations in order to be and remain a positive thinker. We should also try and look at things in a philosophical and spiritual manner.
We have to remember that our thoughts have the power to attract. Whatever we think or visualize with belief will become a reality.

The famous quotation by Napoleon Hill, author of ‘Think And Grow Rich’ is “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve”. This is so true as I have practised this and achieved amazing results in my life.

How to think positive?

•    As and when a negative thought comes to our mind, we should make a conscious effort to disregard it. We can do this by instantly diverting our thoughts to something positive. I know that it is not an easy thing to do especially in the beginning. Once our mind begins to accept the concept of positive thinking, it would get easier and become effortless.
•    When we are positive & happy inside, we tend to glow on the outside. This is revealed through our words, actions, reactions, body language, etc.
•    When we think negative, we attract negative things, and then we start to internalize things which will result in mood swings or ill health. We will begin to complain & whine about everything.

How we can achieve this :
o    By monitoring or observing our negative thoughts, words and actions on a daily basis.
o    We can also mentally show ourselves a caution sign (like a yellow card shown in a soccer game) every time we think of something negative in order to cease the negative thought.
o    We can say to our self “stop it”
o    We can give our self a gentle pinch on our hand.
o    We can also chart or record it on a piece of paper and evaluate it weekly to see if we are improving or getting worse.
These are all good and easy methods of improving our way of thinking.

Power of Words

We have now come to the knowledge & understanding that our thoughts have great power, therefore we are going to give some attention to our daily dialogue/conversations which we have with others as well as ourselves in order to realize that words too have similar power.
Words can help us or can hinder us in our personal growth.
When we compliment someone, the recipient would surely feel good or elated. See how powerful our words can be. Similarly, if we say something nasty to someone, the recipient will feel upset, hurt or depressed. Words certainly can affect a person’s physiology.

The moment we open our mouth and say something, we have revealed our true self. Sometimes one need not even say anything, the energy from the person will reveal a lot.

Another powerful form of influence is commercials, how words and images can influence people to buy a certain product, etc. Millions of dollars are spent on advertising because there are huge returns for it.
Therefore we can be wise and try to use words that can help or uplift a person and even our self, nothing wrong with that.

Most of us tend to use negative words on children and they grow up immersed in these words. When they become adults, they manifest what they have heard growing up. For example, if a parent keeps on telling his child that he is lazy, this child will grow being convinced that he is a lazy person and will behave that way.

To change this kind of information in our mind, we have to alter the thoughts that have made an impression. This can be done by self-talk or through affirmations.
What we become, how much we earn, how happy we are, how healthy we are, how productive we are, how spiritual we are  → are results of our self-talk.

Mental Relaxation

How to unwind from a fast lane?

We are living in a world where we are geared only to be in the fast lane. With all the rushing around daily, with deadlines to meet, with relationships to cope with, with career commitments, with family responsibilities, with social obligations, etc. we end up being totally stressed.

All our cells in our body (about 50 over trillion cells) are stretched to its maximum. We then tend to lose our focus, our clarity, our peace of mind and eventually we fall ill.
It is crucial to know how to ‘de-stress’ ourselves on a daily basis before ‘dis-ease’ sets in. We can do this by relaxing our mind. When we relax our mind, we experience inner peace, clarity and focus. It also allows us to display our creative & intuitive abilities.

Mental relaxation is just stilling or slowing the activity of our mind. We are merely slowing down the activity of our brain from beta level to alpha level. Beta level is when we are actively engaged in our daily activity and alpha level is a relaxed level. This can be measured by using the EEG (electro-encephalograph) machine.
We can bring ourselves to alpha level when we are praying, meditating, chanting, listening to soft music or even just not thinking of anything.

Once we are able to remain in this alpha level for about 20 to 30 minutes daily, we will experience calmness & serenity within us. Our mind and body will enter a state of peace and tranquility. We will begin to enjoy good health and improved immune system. With a positive & relaxed mind we will attract good things and good people in our lives. Our mind will become receptive to good things and good people.

Techniques

1) MENTAL RELAXATION

Mental Relaxation is simply shifting our mind’s attention from the outside world to the inner mental world. Since our mind is frequently straying without focus and direction, or we are constantly involved or caught up in our daily activities, we find it difficult to relax our mind. This has nothing to do with religion, it is just relaxing the mind.
As St Teresa of Avila once described the mind of man as an ‘unbroken horse, it would go anywhere except where you want it to’. With this in mind, we need to discipline our mind to stay focused through mental relaxation or meditation. It is at the relaxed or meditative level with reduced brain activity when we relax and are totally in control of ourselves.

How we can relax our mind:

We have to locate a place that is conducive and favorable. It can be a room, church/temple or an open area like a beach or a park. It should be a ‘quiet’ place. We should sit comfortably either on a chair or on the floor whichever is comfortable. Then with our eyes closed, we start to relax our mind. The reason we close our eyes is to prevent external distractions. We can also play some soft music, or focus on our breathing, or repeat a word from a prayer or start by counting mentally from a 100 to 1. We can also imagine or visualize our self in a very beautiful and serene place.
Any one of these will reduce our brain activity and we will slowly begin to feel very relaxed. It will not be easy initially, but as time goes by and when we make the effort it comes naturally.  That is why it is advisable to participate in a group or attend an appropriate seminar to discover the methods. Once we get the feel of total relaxation, we understand the importance of it.

2) AFFIRMATION

An affirmation is simply a positive beneficial statement. An affirmation repeated mentally several times on a daily basis would improve certain aspects of our lives that need improving. It can be physical, material, emotional or spiritual.
Repeating an affirmation a few times daily is a subtle form of programming. We impress our subconscious mind with a picture of a desired result in our mind. The objective is to override our past negative programming or replace it with conscious positive new directions.
Most of us talk ourselves into failing.
According to research, about 77% of our thoughts are negative and counterproductive. Therefore we need to constantly affirm positive statements to become a more positive person.

It is a very simple technique.
  a) We need to create short positive statements based on the area we would like to improve.
  b) Then we repeat these statements about five (5) times mentally with the desired result in our mind.
  c) We should repeat it with emotion and do it at least twice a day.
  d) It will be more effective if we repeat it when we are relaxed.

In order to create an effective affirmation, the following are some guidelines:-

-Use only positive words. It is good to affirm what we want rather than what we do not want.
e.g. ‘I am always healthy’ instead of ‘I am not sick’.

-Personalize the affirmations using ‘I’ or our name.
-Always have it in the present tense. The mind will act on present tense and issue the command to   the mind right away.
Unlike  ‘I will be getting healthier and healthier’.
The mind might take its own time because it is in the future tense.
The correct one would be ‘I am getting healthier and healthier’.

3) GOALS IN LIFE

“The poorest of all men is not the man without a cent
but a man without a dream”

Setting a goal or a few goals is very important. If we do not have a goal or goals in life, we would be like a boat without a rudder. We would not have a course or a direction to move towards. We would just be floating about.

Our mind needs a goal or a target to work on otherwise our energy is wasted on ever-changing or unimportant goals or no goals at all.
Once we set a goal and impress our mind with the picture of what we want in life, the mind will work ceaselessly to achieve the desired result. The mind will motivate us to look out for opportunities, will motivate us to work smartly and will guide us along till we achieve our results. The common saying “God helps those who help themselves” is very true. We have to take the initiative.
Most important is we must write down our goals on a piece of paper or diary and look at it on a daily basis. It would be more effective if we look at it during our relaxed state of mind when we are calm and focused. When we write our goals on paper, we should mark them on how long it would take to achieve a goal following the time frame given below: -

      •    Short term goals              -  from now to 6 months.
      •    Medium term goals          -  from now to 2 years.
      •    Long term goals               -  from now to 5 years.

If the goal were to overcome a health problem, we would certainly put it under a short-term time frame. On the other hand, if we set a goal to become a doctor, we would write the goal under the long-term time frame. The reason being the studies would take that long to complete.

Universal Laws / Spiritual Laws

There are some laws to be respected and complied to. In order to achieve a good and peaceful life, we must adhere to these laws.

1. Law of Attraction

(Like attracts like)
When we show care, we receive care and concern.
When we show love, we receive love.
When we give joy, we receive joy.
When we give money, we receive money and other blessings.

2. Law of Forgiveness
(It is the key to healing. It is absolutely vital in order to nurture our essence of our being. It is a process.)

We need to forgive others; we need to forgive our self at times. It is not only related to certain unpleasant incidents; we are sometimes the object of the need to forgive as well as the need to be forgiven. There are some people who cannot forgive themselves for something they did or did not do, such as not caring for their aged parents, being unfaithful to a spouse, breaking up someone’s marriage, making false accusations, and many other situations. Some people realize it soon and make amends, whilst some realize it after the person has passed on or moved out of their lives and feel awful about it.
Seeking forgiveness is very vital for our spiritual growth. Any person or any incident that upsets or angers us requires forgiveness – to be able to let go, to release the intense negative emotion. Not an easy task, but with conscious effort and knowing the significance of it, we can seek forgiveness and release the negative emotions from our psyche. This is the ultimate for our personal & spiritual growth where we have to let go and let God take charge. This will enhance our very being. It may take time, but can definitely be done.
Many of us think that we have forgiven someone but in reality we have only forgotten.
To put this to the test, we just have to think of this particular person for a few seconds. If this thought makes us angry and upset, we have certainly not forgiven this person. Our daily dosage of ‘energy’ is used to sustain ‘unforgiveness’.
Forgiveness as a concept has very wide and myriad dimensions and needs understanding before it can be implemented.

3. Law of Circulation

       (Law of Cause and Effect)

“As you sow, so shall you reap”.
“As you give, so shall you receive”.
What goes around comes around.
When we plant an apple tree, we cannot pick oranges”.
If we don’t give, we also prevent receiving.

If we give with no expectations, we receive in abundance.
It may be monetary, love, concern, care, compassion, time, effort and many more.
We should not wish evil for others. We should not do harm unto others. The simple reason being 'Every action has a reaction.'
